Guest Lecture: Mind and Healing: The Evolution of Psychology in the Ottoman Empire – The Case of Süleymaniye Dārüşşifa (House of Healing)
The Psychology (PSY) study program is organizing a guest lecture with Dr. Ayşe Kaya Göktepe.
We are excited to welcome Asst. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Kaya Göktepe, expert in the field of Psychology of Religion, Clinical Psychologist, and founder of Endülüs Psikoloji. Dr. Göktepe is an ISST certified schema therapist and FEPTO certified co-psychodramatist with an expertise in mental health and psychology.
Dr. Göktepe was a research consultant at the Stanford Muslim Mental Health and Islamic Psychology Lab in 2024. Her academic journey includes an MA in Musicology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Psychology from Cambridge Muslim College. Additionally, she serves as an Advisory Board Member for ISIP Türkiye.
This lecture will explore the fascinating history of psychology in the Ottoman Empire, exploring the significant contributions of the Süleymaniye Dārüşşifa (House of Healing).
