Our Mission

The mission of the SPCC is to provide a range of psychological and counseling services focused on addressing the diverse needs of students, ensuring an environment for academic, personal, and professional growth aimed at supporting mental health and developmental needs of students.

The primary objective is to support students in their emotional, interpersonal, and career development. Moreover, focus is on developing effective communication skills, fostering positive social interactions, addressing challenges related to career anxiety, and personal growth. The IUS SPCC team is dedicated to delivering quality psychoeducation by offering workshops that equip students with practical tools and coping strategies for personal development and well-being.

Students are, after applying, able to get services of individual counseling, or participate in psychoeducational workshops designed to promote overall well-being.

Important Notes

  • The center adheres to the ethical guidelines set by psychological associations.
  • Counseling sessions are strictly confidential. Information shared during sessions will not be disclosed to third parties, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to the individual or others.
  • If necessary, session cancellations should be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled session.
  • Psychology students volunteering at the center are expected to maintain professionalism and adhere to confidentiality agreements.
  • The center is committed to providing an inclusive and non-judgmental environment. Diversity of each individual, including differences in race, gender, sexual orientation, and cultural background is respected.
  • The center does not provide crisis intervention or psychotherapeutic services. Counseling Center services are not intended to address psychiatric conditions or treatments and emergencies that require specialized care.
  • After applying for counseling, and depending on the center's capacity, clients are placed on a waiting list and will be informed once a time slot becomes available.
